By downloading or using SOSS, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
What SOSS is
SOSS is a free mobile app that turns your phone into a visual and audible distress signal for use in crowds (festivals, concerts, sporting events, and similar settings). It may also help you draft an SMS to a contact you choose, with optional location information.
What SOSS is not
- SOSS is not a replacement for emergency services (such as 911 in the United States).
- SOSS does not automatically contact police, fire, ambulance, or event security.
- SOSS does not guarantee that anyone will see your signal or respond.
- SOSS is not medical advice, legal advice, or professional emergency guidance.
In a life-threatening emergency, contact local emergency services first when you can. Also alert venue staff, security, or medical personnel at the event.
Your responsibility
You use SOSS at your own risk. You are responsible for deciding when activation is appropriate. Misuse of distress signals (including false alarms) may violate event rules or local law.
SMS and location
Squad alerts open your phone's native messaging app. You must tap Send to deliver a message. Standard carrier rates may apply. Location is read only when you activate a signal or prepare a squad alert, if you have enabled that setting.
No warranty
SOSS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR RELIABILITY IN AN EMERGENCY.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF LIFE, INJURY, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING FROM USE OR INABILITY TO USE SOSS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Changes
These terms may be updated. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised terms.
